Shopping

This morning a good friend and I decided to go to the Farmers Market, it’s in my sweet little town EVERY Saturday, and it’s been WAY TOO LONG since I’ve been. Mr. B and I usually go every weekend, well we did until we fell out of the habit, but I think I’m going to start going back I spent about $40 and got a TON of wonderful fresh, in season, organic, beautiful produce.

Cherries, these were the most juiciest, richest, wonderful cherries I think I’ve ever eaten, and mind you I don’t like cherries, well I thought I didn’t like cherries, obviously that’s changed.

I picked up fresh picked green beans and some wonderfully sweet little bell peppers - I’m going to steam the beans and roast the little peppers, serve with Quinoa and some type of protein either chicken or pork, probably pork as it is my favorite meat.

BERRIES!!!! Raspberries, Logan Berries, Strawberries, and then the randomly thrown in Apricot - they were so delish as well.

When my family was out last summer my mom picked up some sauces from this one lady and they were so good so I picked up some Peach Pepper, what are the ingredients you ask? All that’s in this little beauty is Peaches, Red Pepper, Sugar, Gelatin, Cayenne, and that’s it, no water or things I can’t pronounce… and it’s sooo yummy!

I also picked up some wonderful hand jarred Bread & Butter pickles, I remember when my mom used to make her own pickles, I loved them - and swear I’ve never had as good of a pickle, I wish she would make them again.

I’m so excited to eat this produce this week! I also picked up some corn for .40 cents an ear LARGE & FRESH ears; a little butternut squash; and some yummy Gouda Cheese Curds.

If you have a Farmers Market by you I highly suggest you check it out! If you do, what’s your favorite thing to pick up each week?

First Grown Up Attempt

When I was 11 I sewed my very first thing - an outfit, shorts and shirt - it was well, there are no words. I suppose I did a good job, except for the fact the fabric was TOTALLY early 90’s and I learned I didn’t have patience to sew. You have to find the fabric, cut out the pattern pieces then pin them to the fabric, then cut the fabric out, then sew, and well - it was too much. Until last month - I want a sewing machine I keep thinking about it, I go to Joanne Fabrics at least once a week, and LOVE it! For the past several months ever since I upgraded to a 17” laptop I CANNOT find a bag that is the right size, well, I take that back, I can find the right size, I just can’t find a non-mannish looking one that doesn’t come in a LARGE carryon version. So, I decided to make one on my own. So this past weekend, I went and bought fabric, and in the next few weeks when I get the time to go over to our wonderful neighbors house who is so kindly helping me alter a bag pattern and let me borrow her sewing machine I will have a new laptop bag!

So here is the fabric for my first grown up sewing experiment experience!

The top print is for the outside.

The pink quilters bottom, the lining.

The black quilters bottom, the sides-bottom-strap.

They also had there ‘jewelry’ notions on sale for buy one and get one - so I’m planning on putting them outside in a corner kinda clumped haphazardly grouped nicely together on the bottom corner.

I’m so ridiculously excited about this project!

Choo! Choo?

Trains, trains, and more trains! For the past two weekends I have been attending Steam Fest 2010 (an annual display of Steam Engines that our yard has the privilege of housing). A few months ago, I stumbled upon a Rail Yard and wandered around taking some pictures - I never got a chance to post them and I think going back through and trying to catch up is just a little too much work (I know I know lame excuse) but from that excursion I have since joined the NCRY and the PLA (Pacific Coast Locomotive Association) that houses the GGRM. In the past couple of weekends we have had the second annual Winter Rail and Steam Fest so here are a few pictures from the fantastic excursion from the past two weekends.

These trains are AMAZING to be around, I found myself tearing up on a few occasions. I’m so happy that I’m now a member of the PLA (Pacific Locomotive Association) and to help restore these beauties back to how they once were so long ago, not to mention that I’m learning to be an engineer! :) I know I’m just special like that :)

This is our #10 Steamer as he pulled into the Sunol Station this morning. It was so beautiful and it truly took me back into time.

There were doughnuts, and can I say that this was the best doughnut I have ever eaten in my life!? It was fantastic and fluffy and moist and just mm mm good!

In the town where I live there are beautiful rolling hills, at least in the winter they are beautiful, in the summer they are all brown, but what I love is they are home to the so-called wonderfully adorable ‘Happy Cows of California’ cause all the California cows are happy cows.
