No Excuses

I’m not a fan of when people say, “It’s been far to long since I’ve updated.” or “Where has the time gone since my last post?” I guess since I started with that that’s kinda what I’m doing. I won’t make promises for weekly updates and I shouldn’t even say monthly! Mr. B has been gone since May and that’s caused for nothing interesting to go on… one of my goals is to be more active, find things to do, be outgoing and just enjoy life instead of just being bored and lonely most of the time… For about a year I have had a fantastic group of friends around me who lift me up, support me, and are just friends. It’s weird you turn (almost) 30 (minus 3) and you expect to not have these type of friends, well maybe I’m the only one - but I am so thankful for them! Back in September (wow that just seems like yesterday!) a group was going down to Disney and another new friend of mine and myself decided to ride down on our own together just for the weekend as we had work and couldn’t go with everyone else. It was such a needed weekend! We laughed the entire way down just enjoyed ourselves! Once we got to where we were staying we jumped in and started helping for a birthday party with a Mario theme, it was fun and of course I took some pictures, it was quite the cute party complete with a question brick piƱata, question brick sacks to put their prizes in, Coin boxes full of coins, star power suckers, an AWESOME Mario cake, a Mario hat for the birthday boy, and even mini - one up - growth mushroom cupcakes! It was a fun experience to be part of! Thanks!

Party One

There were fun times in the pool!

Party Two

And did I mention the amazing cake?

Party Three

The weekend was perfect! After all the kiddos left we sat in the hot tub listening to good music then played a new favorite game, A Ticket To Ride - if you haven’t played this with your family it’s a MUST for all! It’s great because even kids 7 and up can play and it’s a riot even for adults! Had a fantastic dinner of a great salad and then us girls (Me, Mickey D, and Ishmabishi) just laughed all night long, it was unstoppable! I’m the youngest of the group and I felt like one of the parents were going to come knock on our door and tell us to keep it down - but they didn’t, and eventually we fell asleep and made the drive back the next day.

__________

I also went out to visit Mr. B in New Orleans where has has been living for the past little while, I didn’t really take many pictures but I will be sure to the next time I go out to visit. We stayed at the Hilton Bourbon Street one night, let’s just say that was an experience - the hotel was nice and it was a good time but it was very interesting.

Here is the only picture I took on Bourbon Street… and will probably be the only one ever as I have no interest of going back to that part of the city…. ever.

Bourbon Street 01

I’m not sure if you can see it - but in the picture on the right above there are two people in the street they were playing instruments and it was amazingly awesome - that’s pretty much the only reason I pulled out my camera was to record them, I have a video but I’m not sure if you can hear it well, but I’ll put it up anyway…

Okay so maybe I took one more…. not very good quality but this fellow was quite interesting…. and there were horse mounted cops all over and the horses were beautiful! It’s still amazing to me the stuff that can go one with the police right there, but I suppose it’s all about picking your battles, right?

Lake Pontchartrain is beautiful, and larger than I ever thought it could possibly be! These are a couple I snapped while driving down the highway.

About the only other thing I did this month was have our regular weekly dinners (I love the 50mm 1.2 lens, it’s amazing)! The Bear enjoyed her corn - the adults played games, this time we played Puerto Rico which is awesome.

And I suppose the final thing was a family session, which I learned a lot from - a lot, but got some really cute images!

Story Board

That was my September - somewhat busy, but good! A lot of lessons learned in different things. But mostly this month I learned that I’m so thankful for the Lord and especially knowing that He really does care about me, and I’ve recently felt that we are where we are supposed to be right now - and that things fell into place to put us here so we could find the friends that we have, they are amazing and I really do consider myself lucky, I suppose I feel more blessed than lucky.

Lord of Catan

For the past several weeks we have had the honor of getting together at some friends from the wards home with a couple of families to have dinner, play games, and watch ‘The Amazing Race’. It is such a wonderful time, and we truly enjoy going! For the first couple of weeks we rotated games, but lately have found ourselves passing around the title of Lady/Lord of Catan, which the winner of the games holds on to proudly until the following week. Hopefully this lasts even after The Amazing Race as we really, really love going and the wonderful company we are surrounded by.

I forgot my memory card so I don't have pictures of the delicious Steak & Fish (and for Mr. B the hotdogs). Grilled Pineapple, Peaches, Asparagus, and Bell Peppers. It was sooooo delish! But I did happen to get pictures of the yummy fruit tart!

You’re supposed to use a little pawn for the robber but since everyone that gets together are ‘nerds’ and Star Wars enthusiasts we of course have to use Storm Troopers, which I think is awesome! :)

Picture Post

Thought I would catch everyone up with a few pictures of the past happenings, too bad I don't have one when we took the bike out for a spin to and from the church Christmas breakfast (the long way of course).

A New Habit For Me

I learned about this link - NaBloPoMo from this wonderful blog, and decided to take up the challenge. I want to write about my day, maybe just a sentence or maybe a novel but I want to document my life and the little blessings that happen each day. Today Saturday was a great day in itself.

It started with Snow White, Cinderella, and myself. (Excuse the nick names just want my friends' privacy to be protected. I'm sure you understand.) We went to the temple that morning, beforehand we stopped off at the church bookstore where I purchased my 2009 calendar for the year, I have way too many calenders but none the less I love em and can't get enough. The we proceeded to the temple and it was amazing to go with them they are wonderful women and I'm thankful to have them as friends. Then we went to lunch at Chilis then off to Emeryville we went to go to the bookstore and to Target to find the Wizard of Oz (I still can't believe I don't own my own copy). It was raining, and eventually I had my jeans wet up to my knees from pouncing through water puddles, it was great fun.

I learned on the way there that my mom had purchased me a ticket to go to a movie with her and boog (the loving sister) the day after Thanksgiving. It was this information that caused me to hyper-ventilate, as I have not been wanting to read this book,

(if you know me, if you don't now you do, I have to read a book before seeing a movie that it's based off of even if it something small and silly ie Holes)

Twilight. I didn't want to read it I didn't want to have any part of it until further down the road when it wasn't such a HUGE deal to read these books. Well, now I've fallen. And hopefully if I like the book Cinderella will fall with me as well...

The Wizard of Oz just so you know is out of print until around Thanksgiving sometime....

Giants vs. Rockies

So I know I promised this post a few days ago, things have been a little crazy with life that I haven't even had time to hardly check my e-mail. I give all you mothers cyber hugs as I know that right now I can't even keep up with my own life let alone that of more than myself. On the 23rd of September we went to go see the San Francisco Giants vs. Colorado Rockies game once again thanks to Mike. We had wonderful seats and had a great time. Mr. B and I went and had two extra tickets so we brought along Don and Dawn, no there was no confusion (okay maybe just a little). Don is one of Mr. B's co-workers and Dawn is my side kick, sister separated from birth, best friend whatever you want to call it. It was an absolute blast. We had DELICIOUS garlic fries, polish kraut dogs, and just enjoyed each other. Here are a few pictures from our amazing seats.

Weekend Update

I guess you could say I've had a pretty eventful weekend. Friday after Mr. B and I both got home from work, we drove down south quite a ways (got a little lost on the way). When we got to Dave and Busters to celebrate Dawns birthday Mr. B dropped me off while he went to find a parking spot. I opened the door and started to walk in and the bouncer (no one told me the grown chuckie cheese had a bouncer) stopped me and asked me for my ID... let me interrupt and say whenever I go out with my husband I don't take my purse because I don't need it, as he has the cards and keys and whatever else we might need... yes, I proceeded to tell this to the so-called 5'6" 120lb bouncer. He said it didn't matter and kicked me out. I went outside and hysterically called Dawn and she and Dave (Kims husband) came out to get me, cause I apparently can get inside with a chaperone over the age of 30. We had a blast. I found I really like the coin drop game... if that's what you call it. We and I played for awhile and gave Dawn our tickets as it was her birthday.

Saturday, I finished painting the upstairs room!!! I'll post pictures when I have it all back together. Then we just read and hung out all day it was nice. Today we are driving to Roseville so I can meet my grandmothers nephew so he can give me all of my moms side family history! I'm so excited... I can't wait, that's the extent of my weekend.... not much of anything but hey it's something! Also, I really like www.ldsjournal.com ... it's a neat website.

Anticipation

blink blink blink - I've sat here for I don't know how long once again watching the cursor blinking. I decided that instead of watching it for another hour or 6 I would just start typing and see where it took me.

Thought A - I'm tired of my work cell, every 10 mins or so it turns itself off and then back on, I think I'm going to go to sprint and complain for the THIRD time. I don't want a different phone I really like the one that I have, maybe I'll google it's problem and see if I can come up with any results.

Thought B - Mr. B is coming home tonight for a few days! I am excited, I miss my husband a lot, more than I can even express into words, yet at the same time - it's weird. I haven't seen him for 3 months. I have my own schedule and eating habits and I'm going to have to 'change' them and start cooking more, which means grocery shopping - I.HATE.GROCERY.SHOPPING. It'll be strange to mesh together again, and then he'll leave for another month and be home for a couple years, which will be extremely wonderful! Then we'll have to figure out where to go and what to do as he will probably leave his company and we will probably (most likely, hopefully, can't wait to) move out of California - think I'm a little excited at this prospect? Which brings me to...

Thought C - Friends. You know the movies where there is a group of friends and they by each others side and help one another and whatnot? ie. Sex and the City, Friends, Catch and Release, PS I Love You, etc. I have that here, here in California something I never thought I would find. Yes I have great friends that are not part of this so called 'group'. But all my friends growing up have never 'known' each other or were at different ends of the spectrum (goth, punk, prep, goody-goody, shy) therefore we all never hung out together. I love the fact that I have a close group of friends; Kim and Dawn. I love them all dearly and to me they are family and I hope that in some way I can give back what they have given me. They lift me up, give great advice, make me laugh, keep me smiling when all I want to do is cry, keep my company when my love is away, these wonderful ladies welcomed me into their world and to them, I want to say "THANK YOU".

Thought D - Books. I need to read more, I love reading, I always have it just seems that lately I can't get into a book no matter what the material is, and that's not normal for me. Maybe I'm just too wrapped up into things that don't matter ya know? Like television, television, movies, and maybe some more television. I tell you that boob tube really sucks your life away sometimes. I am listening to "Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe" right now, I wanted to finish it before the weekend before Mr. B comes home, we have the first movie I just wanted to 'read' the book before I watched it. Here are my books: My Book Blog.

I think that's about all I can think of right now besides I have a lot of stuff to do before going to lunch with one of our vendors and then getting to my page long To-Do list...  Have a wonderful day everyone!

Denver Trip

So I haven't been very good at updating this weekly, life does get in the way! Last weekend I went and visited Mr. B out in Denver and had a very lovely time! We visited my favorite people in Castle Rock (best area of my mission) and went to the ESPN Zone at the 16th Street mall in Downtown Denver, with Davy and Shannon, they are a very adorable couple!
We had an absolutely wonderful time! As I was getting ready to come home Mr. B recieved a phone call saying that he would going home with me! How excited I was! So he came home the following day and has been here ever since, until he goes back sometime after Thanksgiving, which I'm not looking forward to, but it is his job what can I do? Nothing much new or interesting is going on with us. The apartment complex management is making us get rid of our charcoal grill because it is a "danger", Mr. B is very disappointed in that. That's all for my little update today, hopefully more when I start taking more pictures and have some "eventful" things happen in our life :)
