Craft Update

So I made these in the first week of December, it’s about time I posted it, huh? I thought my ideas was creative, until I told people what I did then everyone I told then passed along information to me of where they had seen it and asked if that’s where I got the idea… No I didn’t see them anywhere I just wanted to be creative… So while in Joanne Fabrics I thought it would be fun to make 3 different height cones covered with different materials/textures in the Christmas colors.

Craft Collage

So I purchased the necessary items I needed and was ready to get to work! The first one I made was the tallest and I covered it in white Boas and then added a sprig of holly, it’s probably my favorite one.

I just wrapped and wrapped and pinned and pinned until it was covered with the Boas, Greening Pins are fantastic tools I think I could think of a gazillion things to use them for.

Then I decided to tackle the most difficult one… the red one, it was so hard and still doesn’t look the greatest. I used red wood garland - let me tell you this stuff does NOT have as much give as you think it would/should. Now I have little wholes all over that I am still trying to figure out how to fill/cover.

First I covered the cone with red ribbon, so that’s what you could see between the beads as I knew it wouldn’t be perfect. Once I finished pinning the garland on I poured hot glue into the top to secure the beads so I could then cut the remaining beads off, then I topped it with a gold bow and it turned out pretty stinkin’ cute.

Then I took on the one that took me HOURS, actually DAYS to complete. The medium size cone I wrapped in beautiful glittery, shinny green ribbon and then proceeded to painstakingly pin on little glass ornaments one. at. a. time. But I have to say it’s my favorite, okay so I’ve now said that three times but they are all my favorite and I wish I had taken a picture of them all together but I didn’t, so…

I had a lot of fun making them, this year I also made a garland and a wreath and I loved it - I’m turning out more like my mom than I thought I was, and it’s a great thing - my mom is a fantastic woman.

Spray Paint

Spray Paint. I’ve used it a couple of times before - but I think I realized how fantastic this stuff really is, could be a bad obsession, but I want to paint everything now…. I bought this color to paint the curtain rods that were left for us in our rental here, but I used it on these lovely little beauties I picked up at JoAnn Fabrics for $3 a piece! I’ve been looking for some, for what I’m not sure, but there they were, and somehow they ended up in my cart.

I took them home, saw the paint on the stairs begging to be used, and so I used it - I’m still not that great at taking images inside the house with little light, but here is after they received their wonderful metallic bath out in the sunshine.

Warm Fuzzies

So for this month the Visiting Teaching message at our church was ‘Service & Love’. So I put together a little gift to each of them to remember to share and enjoy thier ‘Warm Fuzzies’ – it was a hit and it was probably the most craftiest I’ve ever been. I’ve learned that I really need a hot glue gun… all of the below was done with double sided tape… for some reason lately I’ve had this little craft bone… I went to JoAnne Fabrics for some little jars, pom-poms, and ribbon – I won’t tell you how much I spent but I will tell you I saved $140. Ha! But I ended up with some great things to decorate my wall with and so excited about getting them up this weekend, especially now that I have re-arranged in here a little – and purchased a new TV stand (so we can be rid of the 10 yr old $5 dollar Wal-Mart stand – don’t get me wrong it’s been great and served it’s purpose, it’s just time to upgrade) we’ve also purchased a new 55 gallon freshwater tank and will eventually start a 14 gal Marine Tank (yes, we are turning into aquarists, and it’s fantastic!).

Here are the Warm Fuzzie’s and Happy New Year to everyone – remember my Project 365 starts tomorrow! (hopefully it will start on time and last longer than 3 days)!
