Christmas 2008

What a wonderful Christmas it was this year - it included lots of driving and the making of many memories with family. I apologize that it has taken me this long to update about our Christmas travels as work tends to be a little overwhelming when no one has been in the office for a week, so here is my simple video/picture/story post!

We opened our Christmas at midnight on the morning of Christmas Eve as we didn't want to take our presents across the country with us, so there are no pictures of this wonderful event as first of all it was midnight and who looks decent enough for pictures at midnight? and my camera battery was D.E.A.D. It was a great simple Christmas for us I got a new iPod and a new stereo for the car to go with it so I don't have to fight the FM transmitter here in Cali as there are no empty stations to use. I also ended up with a new DS game and humongo body pillow! I bought Hubs his Terrabyte external hard drive, a PC game, and some socks. Considering we bought our main Christmas in November it was nice. *Although next year I hope we have a tree, it doesn't feel like Christmas without it!* After a few hours of sleep we packed the car and headed out on our journey - it was once again required over the Sierra-Nevadas to have chains. Which turned into it's own long drawn out lostachainloudnoisealmostbrokethecartypeofstoryidon'twanttogointo.

The roads weren't that bad but it was beautiful - and our jail'cat' in the back seat didn't seem to mind the slow loud pace as well.

We arrived in Elko at my parents house just in time for a delicious Christmas Eve dinner and to see the siblings open their traditional Christmas pajamas.

We stayed until Christmas morning for more present openings (Thanks mom for the great kitchen items, and Douglas LOVES his new book) and the wonderful Christmas breakfast!

After breakfast and a few minutes of visiting we headed out to Utah to Douglas' family in the snow, this was what our drive looked like from Elko to Salt Lake.
We had a wonderful visit with Momma Jo, Grandma Curtis, and many more relatives that I enjoyed very much. I wish we could visit more often! All in all it was a wonderful Christmas but I think we will be staying home next year *just so I can have a tree!*

Piano, Palm Trees, and Snow

It's been awhile since I last posted I keep meaning to and then life tends to get in the way, so then I decided when I download my SD card on the computer I'll post then - thus life got in the way again, so here I am posting without any pictures. So the updating will consist of the following, hope you enjoy....

Hubs and I are both now in Primary, him as the teacher of the CTR 7s and myself as the Primary Pianist, that's right you heard me correctly, Primary Pianist. I'm very excited and know that it will be a growth period of time in my piano playing skills. Hubs thinks that I was called to keep an eye on him... if only he knew. Needless to say I'm sad to be leaving my calling as music coordinator in Relief Society but ready to embark on a new challenge.

It was great on my way to work the other morning *maybe more weird than great* I saw snow on the hills, it didn't last long, but it was there, isn't that all that matters? It was strange to see Palm Trees and snow all in one view...

Now on to other items, I believe that we (Hubs, myself, Shannon, Davey) are going to get ourselves some bowling shirts we went bowling the other night and throughly enjoyed it, we're not the best bowlers but we sure do have fun together! *I have pictures to post of this but I needed to update so therefore the lack of photos*.

We're getting really excited for Christmas *probably more me than my husband* we are going to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Morning with my family in Nevada and then Friday and Saturday with Hubs Mother in Utah, maybe Horseback riding, that makes me happy. Mainly I just want my iPod.... I'm doing fine without it but I really would like it.

Just Another Manic - Friday

When I got home today I got the strongest urge to "re-arrange" my house. See this wouldn't be a problem if I had the properly shaped rooms to do this in. As it is my furniture can really only sit one way thus defeating the purpose of a rearrangement. But I'm still going to try tomorrow.

One day I'll be like my parents and be able to have furniture that actually matches and doesn't look like I live in a DI... Oh how I want to decorate and live someplace with rich browns, greens, and blues...

But for tonight it's going to be me stuck to my wonderful, supersize, look like your looking out your window TV.. and for hubs he's still attached to his computer.

(PS - Comcast email is going to drive me out of my mind) I hope the lady can fix it.

The Day After

The signs are being taken down.

People are hanging their heads in defeat while others are holding their heads high in celebrations.

I've read the posts on celebrations and the posts on defeat, I have my feet planted in this new world and I hope and pray for the best.

It's over. It's finally over.

And that's all I'm saying in regards to the 2008 Election, for now anyway.

Moving along, hubs and I celebrated Christmas in November! We couldn't help ourselves.

I'm in love. I didn't know it was possible to be in love with an object - yes it is. I couldn't stop smiling and I couldn't pull myself away to go to bed. It was a great Christmas. Now I just need to figure out with to do with my other TV, and now I need another DVD player... hmmm.
