This year I’ve increased in my photo taking skills - I still can’t bring myself to call myself a photographer until I get more experience, and better at this new love of mine. Although it might catch some of you off guard to hear that as it seems that everyone with a camera that cost more than 500$ are calling themselves photographers these days - I’ll get off my soap box before I even start. But I’m happy with my progress thanks to Nicoles Classes and just shooting, shooting, and more shooting! Last year I attempted a 365 project - I got through July and fell off the band wagon, so yes I am going to attempt another one starting tomorrow.
I’m in the process of giving my blog a makeover this weekend - so in lieu of time, and the husband is home this weekend so I’m trying to spend as much time as possible with him, so here is a simple Mrs. B’s favorite images from 2010!
January
This was the year I fell in love with trains. This was taken right after I got my camera, my friend and I had a camera outing, I don’t know how it ended up with this ‘film’ look but I love it, an accident it might be but it was a beautiful one, in my mind and eye anyway.
February
I love this picture, I use it frequently on my desktop - and have a print of it. This was taken outside my new office, after I moved the second of four times this year.
March
Again with the trains, I know…. I went to a couple train ‘extravaganzas’ this year with a wonderful friend - I even started volunteering at a train yard, now only if I would go and do work… :/ My husband tells me I have way too many hobbies and interests, and I’m starting to believe him….
April
The beginning of this year we started going over to a weekly dinner at a friends house and have become close friends with these 3 families. We enjoyed; Easter dinner, Thanksgiving dinner, and Christmas dinner all together this year, along with Amazing Race/Catan Sunday Nights. It’s a blast and I’m glad we have gotten to know them so well.
May
I started setting up my own photo shoots, and realized I didn’t have any of my engagement ring, so I ‘borrowed’ our neighbors Lily bush and took my own, turned out quite well. The only thing you can’t see is the big spider that was living in the bottom by the stamen - he was nasty but at least you can’t see him!
June
My sister graduated high school, and there were so many fun ones from her party I couldn’t just pick one! There were fun shoes, cupcakes, lots of family, lots of presents (I mean cash), and cute children eating smores!
July
Mr. B was in Louisville for work for a portion of this year - I traveled there and we had some great times; Church Hill Downs, Louisville Slugger Museum, Downtown Louisville… it was a blast! I really liked that city, a lot. Here is Babe Ruths bat - it was way cool to see it.
August
I started getting a bi-weekly delivery of an organic veggie/fruit box. I love it! It has saved me so much money and the produce is just delicious and so beautiful! How could you not want to cook it or just eat it from the box?!
September
So I’m finally thinking I’m getting the hang of this whole thing, making progress - and then I go and decide to rent the Canon 50 f/1.2, I do not have words for how my heart feels about this lens! So now I’m going to have to save up enough to buy it - might take me a lifetime, but it is sooo worth it! Moral of the story? Don’t rent something you might like, if you can’t afford to buy it… :/
October
This was about the part of the year that it just seems like I forgot I had a camera, it’s sad really - the only thing I took pictures of in October was the Pumpkin Cheesecake I made - which was amazingly delicious by the way! It was soooo yummy! It’s not the best picture either as I was trying to hand hold at a very slow shutter speed (note to self… tripod and release).
November
See I told you I was horrible at taking pictures at the end of the year…. not ONCE did I take a picture in November, not a single one.
December
So my camera has been out more this month than it has in a while! I did pictures with Santa for the primary children at our breakfast with Santa. I bought a little fake white tree, and only used silver and red ornaments and LOVE how it turned out! And my family came down for several days, it was a blast with them, and there are some amazing Christmas lights out here in my neck of the woods!
That’s all folks! It was an interesting year in 2010 - and there are a lot of decisions on the docket for what 2011 will bring to us and our family…. And you’ll most certainly see me around more often! Have a wonderful New Year!
